Skin Rejuvenation

Skin rejuvenation is achieved with the use of resurfacing procedures such as laser, chemical peel, or microneedling. The in-office treatment is accompanied by the use of skin care products at home. We specifically choose to carry certain products in office that are scientifically proven to have benefits in repairing and restoring healthy, youthful skin. It is the strength and purity of the products, the supervision of their use, the grouping of products and treatments that sets a Cosmetic Dermatologist’s office apart from cosmetic counters and salons.

Age, genetic background and environmental exposure play large roles in determining your skin’s appearance. The presence of fine lines and mild patches of discoloration is normal to varying degrees, but given the choice, most people would like to get rid of the skin imperfections. The Lasky Skin Center offers many options in Skin Rejuvenation. For patients with minimal damage, a good skin care regimen can give significant improvement. For patients with more damage, other treatments in addition to a skin care regimen, are used. These treatments can include; Non-Ablative lasers to stimulate collagen growth, light chemical peels, exfoliating masks, fractional laser resurfacing, and microneedle resurfacing to remove damaged layers of skin and replace them with newer, healthier skin.

Fractional laser resurfacing

Fractional laser resurfacing is a revolutionary technology used for improving scars, discolorations, skin texture, and general signs of sun and environmental skin damage.  The Fraxel Dual laser that is used here at the Lasky Center has been proven over 10 years to be safe and effective.  The treatment itself takes 10-15 minutes.  The laser energy penetrates into small microcolumns of skin creating new collagen and a smoother surface.  Typical recovery time includes 5-7 days of redness, flaking, and peeling.  Results are seen as early as 2 weeks and can be amplified by a series of treatments.

Microneedle Resurfacing

Microneedling (also known as collagen induction therapy) is a technique that has been around for many years, but has recently been modernized to become more efficient and effective.  An automated device with multiple tiny vibrating needles is used on the treatment area to improve acne scars, surgical scars, pore size, and general skin texture.  The procedure is relatively painless and takes 10-20 minutes.  It can be done on the face or body.  Usually 3-6 treatments are recommended for optimal results.  The downtime is very minimal including mild-moderate redness for 3-5 days.

Spot Peel

The Spot Peel by Dermaceutic is a brightening peel used to treat brown spots caused by the sun, melasma, and pigmentation from acne scars.  The peel is applied in the office and most patients experience 4-7 days of redness and peeling following the procedure.  A post-peel kit is included for continued use.

Cosmelan Treatment for Pigmentation

Cosmelan Pack

The Cosmelan treatment is for facial pigmentation including sunspots, melasma, and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.  The Cosmelan 1 product mask is applied in the office and needs to be worn for 6-12 hours.  The following day, the patient will start using the Cosmelan 2 product several times and day and decrease frequency of use over 2-3 weeks.  In the first week of treatment, patients often experience skin redness, tightness, flaking, and peeling.  Results may be seen as early a 1 month.
